Project overview

2 MW of onsite power from green waste.

The first of several plants planned for Darwin, turning green waste into electricity and carbon removal as power prices rise.

The challenge
The Darwin region saw a fixed 20% electricity price increase in 2026, while the Darwin landfill is nearing end of life with under-utilised green waste.
What CNP delivers
A CNP-owned 2 MW plant turning local green waste — previously sent to landfill — into electricity and carbon credits. The first of several plants planned for Darwin to tackle green waste and rising energy prices.
